State-based resources for brain health, caregiving and support

This annual event in DC addresses racial inequities in dementia care and brings together caregivers, advocates, and communities of color to share resources and strategies.

Club Memory is a stigma-free social club for people with early-stage Alzheimer’s disease, mild cognitive impairment or other forms of dementia and their spouses, partners and caregivers.

AfricanAmericansAgainstAlzheimer’s is the nation’s first organization dedicated to building a coordinated national response to eliminate and address Alzheimer’s disease among African Americans. Headquartered in D.C., it provides national education as well as local community events and series.

ALTSA coordinates Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs), caregiver support programs, and dementia-capable services across Washington. You can find local groups as well as long-term care services and provider information.

The Alzheimer’s Association has two state chapters that provide education, access to the 24/7 Helpline, and support groups for caregivers and families impacted by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

The Eldercare Locator connects Washington residents to Area Agencies on Aging, ADRCs, respite programs, and dementia services.

This collaborative advances the Washington State Plan on Alzheimer’s, offering tools, training, and community initiatives for caregivers and dementia-friendly communities.

Washington’s ADRCs provide options counseling, benefits navigation, and referrals to dementia services statewide.

The Seattle Indian Health Board offers culturally specific elder services, caregiver education, and community supports for Native families. It also provides some health screenings and care around chronic diseases like dementia, or can provide community referrals as needed.

El Centro provides bilingual senior programs and caregiver support for Latino families, including dementia awareness and education. They also provide support with healthcare plan enrollment and explanation.

These annual faith-based Alzheimer’s awareness events provide caregiver education and dementia information in African American congregations across King County.

Sea Mar’s Latino Senior Information & Assistance program provides Spanish-language information, advocacy, and navigation for elders and their caregivers in King County and the surrounding area.

Swedish provides diagnostic memory care, caregiver education, and community support programs for families affected by dementia. It also offers some health coaching, exercise, and culinary information relevant to brain health.

Washington 211 lists local caregiver programs, adult day health services, and dementia support resources statewide.

This county agency offers caregiver support, dementia training, and navigation services for older adults and families in Pierce County.

AARTH partners with churches and community groups to provide Alzheimer’s education, health equity programs, and caregiver support in Seattle’s African American community.

UW’s ADRC is part of the national network of Alzheimer’s research centers, linking the Seattle community to clinical trials, education, and research on diagnosis, biomarkers, and interventions.

The Memory & Brain Wellness Center integrates research, clinical care, and community programs (through “The Memory Hub”) to support people living with memory loss and their caregivers in Seattle and beyond.

UW Medicine’s neurology specialty provides subspecialty care for memory disorders and dementia, complementing the university’s research and clinical infrastructure. You can call for support with getting an appointment, affording care, or making a connection to a provider in your area.

The Bureau runs caregiver support programs, Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs), and services for people with dementia across West Virginia.

This clinic at West Virginia University offers evaluation, education, and caregiver resources for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. People can get a diagnosis of a specific type of dementia or related underlying conditions, and get help creating a treatment plan here or with available community resources.

Marshall Health provides memory evaluation and referral to caregiver supports for families in the Tri-State region. This facility focuses on cognitive concerns under the care of psychiatrists, so it can support some dementia care and may make local referrals.
